Cady thinks she's cracked the source of the weird shit that's been happening. Then a scream cuts through the bedroom. She freezes, heart slamming, and moves toward the sound. The room flickers like bad wiring. Something's there with her—she can feel it pressing against her skin. "Jamie," she says, voice low and tight, "I know where you went. I know how to bring you back." She pulls up the group chat she's arranged with Jamie's fans. The plan's dirty and desperate but it's all she's got. Breath held, Cady works with them like they're coaxing a ghost out of a machine. Suddenly Jamie stands there—Jessie Lee in the flesh again—glowing with the same screen-bright life her fans never stopped wanting. Cady stares, stunned, because Jamie isn't just back. Her whole filthy online world is back with her. Jamie laughs, wild and grateful, then grabs Cady and kisses her like she's starving. Perfect bodies slam together, hips grinding, tongues sliding. Jamie's making up for every second lost, and she isn't planning on stopping.
