Just Like Old Times Together

Two stepsisters—Hazel Moore and Aften Opal—end up stuck at the house while their parents jet off on vacation. Their own paperwork still sits in drawers, forgotten, so the trip is dead before it starts. Cabin fever sets in fast. Somebody suggests they fake it anyway. Ten minutes later they’re staking a small nylon tent on the backyard lawn like it’s some kind of stand-in getaway.
Inside the nylon shell the temperature climbs. They flip through a glossy travel magazine, pointing at one-pieces and bikinis, teasing about what would barely cover the other. The jokes drift to the last trip, when they slipped out at night and skinny-dipped under the dock lights. Heat creeps up their throats. They inch closer on the sleeping bag, knees touching, breath shorter. Stories spill out—hotel balconies, barely-there towels, brushing hands in the dark hallway—each one stoking the air between them. Fingers graze a wrist, linger, retreat. Pulse hammers. A look holds too long. Whatever line they tried to keep suddenly burns through, and their mouths meet hard and hungry, every careful inch gone in one raw pull.
