You Two Are Lucky

Vina and Harley bounce into the parlor like they just stepped out of a dream. Their fingers stay laced, shoulders brushing, the two of them sparkling so bright even the cheap neon signs seem to blush. Shay watches them from behind the counter, mouth gone dry. Older, cool, keeping the tremor out of her voice when she greets them.
The room is dim, eucalyptus and warm oil heavy in the air. Clothes drop. Skin meets the heated table. Shay pours slick across their backs, palms sliding. She reads the easy glances they trade, that constant silent check-in between lovers who never need an audience but make one anyway. It hits her low and old, the ache of lives that had to stay quiet, rainbow folded up and hidden inside.
She doesn’t mean to say anything. It leaks out anyway—a wistful crack about wishing she’d had their luck, their careless courage, especially years ago when rules were steeper. Vina lifts her head. Harley reaches, fingers brushing Shay’s wrist. They both turn soft with understanding.
Shay tries to laugh it off. Too late, she says. They won’t let it rest. Instead they sit up naked and shining, close around her on the table edge, kissing her knuckles, whispering an invitation: let us give you what you missed. Let it be now. No hiding. No more waiting.
Shay’s breath stutters. Her pulse bangs behind her ribs. And then their mouths find her throat, two warm pairs of lips proving the dare is real. The door is already locked. The lights stay low. Clothes still fall.
