Lady Boss: The Research Assistant

Whitney’s phone keeps buzzing with emails while she’s still half-dressed. Angela is already at it, already needing numbers, already expecting answers. Whitney hits call without finishing her lip gloss. She says they nailed it, the trial data just clicked, but Angela doesn’t bite. She talks about contracts, shareholders, a party that starts in three hours. Whitney pushes. Angela sighs and says fine, office, ten minutes.
Whitney opens the glass door breathing fast. Angela sits behind a slab of black oak, one eyebrow cocked. Whitney unloads: blood markers, overnight scans, a seventy-point jump in response rates. Angela listens, smoking something sweet she isn’t supposed to have indoors. When the pitch stops, she stubs it out and says, flat, “Hundreds of thousands more. Board vote. Your word against printed numbers.”
Whitney says she’s sure. Angela offers a thin smile and slides the bottle across the table. “Put your money where that mouth is.”
Whitney’s fingers shake, but the pill goes down dry. Minutes later her skin is hot. Angela pushes the chair back, pats her thigh, tells her to sit. Whitney’s voice wobbles—“inappropriate”—but Angela’s hand catches her wrist and pulls until the younger woman lands, knees open around the boss’s hips. Angela peels the cotton shirt away, exhales once when she sees Whitney’s nipples pulled tight like little stones. “Side effect?” she asks. Whitney nods: “Promiscuity.” Angela’s mouth is already on her breast.
Buttons rip, fabric hits tile, desks creak. Angela spreads Whitney across the paperwork she claims will cost a fortune and fucks her like the results have already cleared every panel. The room smells sharp, slick, and the only verdict that matters is the one Whitney’s body is giving up right now.
