Autumn pushes the sheet aside and straddles her husband’s hips, guiding him inside her without hesitation. The months of rigidity begin to melt; she rides hard and slow, sweat on her collarbone, her breath hissing through her teeth each time she sinks down. He grabs her waist, pulling her deeper, and Autumn feels something inside her crack open. After they finish, she lies against his chest and tells him she’s different now. The next afternoon she finds Lena in the studio, that cool glass door shutting behind her. Autumn says the exercise helped, voice still scratchy, and asks for another appointment. Lena studies her with soft, unsuspecting eyes and nods. She dims the lights, settles Autumn on the couch, starts the low, even questions. Autumn sinks under them, limbs loose, lids half-closed, the remembered heat of last night pooling low in her belly again. Lena, calm, pen poised, has no idea what Autumn actually wants her to unlock.
