August Skye limped from a pulled hamstring, gritted teeth, sweat darkening her tank. Serene Siren answered the knock wearing nothing but a thin silk robe that clung to sweat-slick skin. The physiotherapist let her neighbor inside, voice low, tight with something she never named. She guided August to the bedroom—no table tonight. Just clean sheets and lamplight. Cool oil on Serene’s palms. She hooked fingers behind August’s knee and pulled the leg straight, muscles shivering. Every slow press up the thigh drew a sharper breath from both of them. August’s foot grazed the inside of Serene’s forearm, silk rustling against bare skin. Serene inched higher, wrists brushing heat that wasn’t from the injury. August’s hips twitched once, twice. Serene’s thumbs circled, then parted, mapping wet silk and faster pulse. Neither spoke until August’s voice cracked open. “Higher. Don’t stop.” Serene’s hands answered before her mouth did—slick palms sliding beneath August’s waistband, parting fabric and resistance. August clutched the sheets, tendon slack, every nerve screaming for the next deliberate drag of skin on skin. The sheet slid; the air thickened. And the question between them snapped like the first cut of a fuse.
