The Neighborhood Snoop

Serene Siren smashes her face to the glass. Her lips curl into a dirty grin while she whispers to nobody: "Look at those two, coming home together. I bet they’re already wet and hard before they hit the front door." Her pulse jumps. She’s done guessing. She needs proof. She creeps across the lawn, keeping low, edging up to the living-room window until she can feel the heat from inside on her skin. A throat clears behind her. Serene spins and nearly swallows her tongue: Spencer Scott and her stepdaughter Laney Grey are both staring at her, faces sharp with suspicion. "Hey, neighbors," Serene blurts, forcing a nervous laugh, "just came to borrow sugar. You don’t mind if I step inside a minute, do you?" Spencer glances at Laney, shrugs, unlocks the door. Inside, Serene stalls, asks for coffee she doesn’t want, eyes darting everywhere. When Spencer sets a mug down, Serene drops the act. "You two fuck, don’t you?" Dead silence. Spencer’s knuckles whiten around the chair-back; Laney’s cheeks flush, caught. Serene’s own color rises for a different reason. Her pupils blow wide, voice low and thick. "I’ve been dying to taste whatever the two of you taste. Can I join?"
