Serene vents on the phone about Brooklyn Gray strutting around the house bare-assed, dropping herself on every couch cushion like it’s nothing. Brooklyn wanders in, smiling, skin gleaming under the lamp. Serene bolts. Days later Sheena Ryder sits with Serene on the same couch. Brooklyn appears again, nothing on, and drops into a forward fold that splits her wide open right in front of them. Sheena’s eyes pop. Sheene gasps, gets up, storms out. Serene rips off her shirt and claims naked is normal here. The lie only makes it worse. Door slams. She wheels on Brooklyn, spitting accusations. Brooklyn just grins wider, thrilled her step-mom finally took something off. Heat creeps up Serene’s neck. She feels the air on her nipples, the tiny spark between her legs. Brooklyn steps closer, voice low, coaxing. Serene’s fingers find her own waistband. Brooklyn sinks back to the carpet; Serene follows. Fingers slide, slick and loud. They twist together, hips rocking, tongues tangling, sweat sealing skin to skin. Nothing stays hidden anymore.
