Role Models: Making A Difference

Sofi beamed as Dr. Riley Reyes showed her around the hospital halls. Riley had the same dead eyes she'd always seen in burned-out doctors who had seen too much. Sofi couldn't keep quiet anymore and cornered her. "What's eating at you? You used to light up at the idea of helping people." Riley shrugged, claimed nothing was wrong, but Sofi pressed. She said the old Riley inspired her into medicine, that one exhausted doctor still meant everything to her. Riley finally cracked. Years of futility had scraped her raw. Sofi pulled her close and they tumbled onto an empty gurney. They yanked down scrubs and buried their faces between one another's thighs, tongues darting until both shook and came hard. Sofi hoped the rush would be enough to keep Riley fighting another day.
