Reagan smiles to herself in the living room when the doorbell rings. She answers and finds Gia, her step-daughter’s girlfriend, standing there, trying not to look nervous. Whitney isn’t home, Reagan says with a teasing edge. Gia hesitates, but Reagan waves her inside and they sit on the couch. Whitney went to the store, won’t be long.
