Missing The Signs

Adriana Chechik sits on the couch waiting, dressed to kill, legs crossed, foot tapping. 'Come ON, Cassidy, you've been in there forever!' Cassidy finally steps out of the bedroom looking just as hot and just as unsure. Adriana starts to say how fuckable she looks, then stops. Cassidy's face says something's wrong. Adriana pats the cushion. 'Sit. Talk.' Cassidy drops beside her. 'I don't get why we even go to those clubs. I never have fun. Everybody's pairing off, guys and girls keep throwing themselves at you, and nobody ever throws themselves at me.' Adriana barks out a laugh. 'Bullshit. They're ALL throwing themselves at you.' She grabs both of Cassidy's hands and squeezes, lingering just a second too long on the word 'girls.' Cassidy misses the hint completely. 'No way. I'd notice.' Adriana leans in. 'People are always touching you. Your shoulders, your arms. That's code.' Cassidy shakes her head. 'They're just touchy.' 'They're trying to get closer, dummy. Same reason they buy you drinks. It's not just to be nice.' Cassidy frowns. 'But you buy me drinks all the time.' Adriana stares hard. 'Exactly.' Cassidy still doesn't register it. She claims she only wants a straight-up ask, like in movies. Adriana says some people can't risk that; they're scared of wrecking something good. 'Like a friendship.' Cassidy shrugs. 'I'd only be worried about ruining it with someone I actually cared about.' Adriana snaps. 'ME, you idiot! I'm talking about ME! I've been flirting with you for a fucking year.' Cassidy's eyes go wide. 'Then why didn't you just say so?' Because she was terrified Cassidy would hate her. 'I wouldn't hate you,' Cassidy says, honest. 'I always liked you too, I just didn't know if it was only friends or... more.' They stare at each other one hot second, then slam together, mouths open, hungry. Adriana yanks Cassidy's top down, tongue sliding over stiff nipples while Cassidy moans and clutches her hair.
